LAS VEGAS, NV - The beginnings of a shopping mall that have been sitting unchanged for years south of Charleston at the 215 Beltway may see construction pick back up again.
The Howard Hughes Corporation says Macy’s has signed on as the first anchor tenant of the project and that construction will start up about a year from now. The mall is scheduled to open in 2014.
The mall will be called The Shops at Summerlin with 125 stores as well as entertainment, office and residential units. Work on the project was put on hold when the economy tanked back in 2008.
The project is expected to provide about 1,700 jobs during construction and 2,000 full-time jobs when it opens in 2014.
