1000s Attend Pride Parade In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Thousands of people flooded downtown Las Vegas to watch the city’s 15th annual Pride Parade.

The Las Vegas Sun reports the crowd lined the parade route in a show of support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

Some 85 gay and straight organizations and businesses took part in the two-hour parade, many with floats on display.

Men dressed in elaborate drag costumes, and a convertible with two men in back read, “Just Married.”

A group of Christians representing the Marin Foundation wore “I’m Sorry” shirts and held signs that read, “We’re sorry for being a bad example of Jesus.” The group is critical of the way many churches have treated the gay community.

The parade kicked off with speeches from Kathy Griffin and Joan Rivers.
