(Las Vegas, NV) — Las Vegas city firefighters are unhappy with their chief. By a two-to-one margin, members of the local International Association of Firefighters cast a “no confidence” vote against Chief Mike Myers. Union officials say Myers has refused to come out against a study by outside consultants to evaluate how the fire department is doing. IAFF President Dean Fletcher claims the consulting firm’s, quote, “reason for existence” is to make cuts. City Manager Betsy Fretwell defends the study, saying it could improve the department’s efficiency.
