(Las Vegas, NV) — The new Bonneville Transit Center in downtown Las Vegas is another step in the transformation into the 21st century.
The BTC has become the 3rd building in all of Southern Nevada to achieve the highest level of recognition from LEED, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
U.S Green Building Council President of Nevada Dave Ray explains why the status of the building is so important to Las Vegas.
“Don’t just look at this as one building, look at it as a tie-in to the community. Being a platinum building is amazing. There is only a dozen or so RTC’s in the entire country that receive platinum status.”
The numerous green features include onsite renewable energy generation using solar power to offset peak electricity demands, as well as water efficiency. Overall, the transit center’s energy efficient design features are estimated to reduce energy consumption by 58 percent.
The BTC is at 101 E. Bonneville Ave. All the benefits of the center can be viewed at http://www.rtcsnv.com/
