(Carson City, NV) – Not everyone will have health insurance when the Affordable Care Act kicks in.
State Health and Human Services director Mike Willden told a Legislative committee yesterday about ten-percent of Nevadans, or more than 300,000 people, will be uninsured by 2020. Willden says under the law, undocumented residents won’t be covered, and some people will pay penalties instead of enrolling in a health plan.
Governor Brian Sandoval has not yet decided whether to expand Medicaid when the federal law goes into effect in 2014.
