LAS VEGAS (AP) — A judge has denied an attorney’s request to have Las Vegas police take down an online video they made in which an officer calls her client a “serial killer.”
Alzora Jackson represents Nathan Burkett, who is accused of sexually assaulting and killing two women in 1978 and 1994. A police officer calls Burkett a “serial killer” in one police video and an “animal” in another — descriptions Jackson says could prejudice a jury.
Jackson filed a motion Thursday to have the videos removed from the Internet.
Police took down the video describing Burkett as an “animal” but they kept up the other video. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the judge on Friday refused to require police to take down that video.
Burkett’s criminal record includes two manslaughter convictions.
