(LAS VEGAS CBS KXNT)  Las Vegas Metro Police stung 44 drivers in  a plain-clothes pedestrian safety detail this week, issuing most of the tickets for two illegal moves:  passing a car that’s stopped for a pedestrian, or failing to yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian.

It was one intersection, and only a couple of hours, but they could have written more tickets if they’d had more personnel, according to Metro Officer Bill Cassell.

As the school year gets underway, Las Vegas Metro Police patrols will have school zones in their sights.  Further traffic safety operations will put both pedestrians and drivers under scrutiny.
