(Carson City, NV)  —  A federal audit has found Nevada wrongly gave subsidies to help some people pay their Medicare premiums.

The “Sun” says the Silver State will have to pay $180,000 back to the feds for not removing ineligible people from the rolls.  Another $900,000 dollars in funding is being withheld, pending further review of some cases.

Charles Duarte, the administrator who oversees the programs, says his agency has improved its monitoring and record-keeping procedures.
