(Las Vegas, NV) – A proposal to change the name of McCarran International Airport is on hold for now.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority board voted yesterday to study the cost of changing the airport’s name. A report is expected next month.
Councilman Steve Ross, who sits on the board, wants to change the facility’s name to Las Vegas International. Any name change will have to be approved by the Clark County Commission.
The airport was named for the late Senator Pat McCarran in 1948.
