(Las Vegas, NV) – The campaign for Nevada’s new 4th Congressional District appears to be heating up.

Republican Danny Tarkanian is facing Democratic State Senator Steven Horsford in the race.  A recording from a recent Tarkanian lunch speech has surfaced, in which Tarkanian says his campaign could “pretend we’re black.”

Horsford, the State Senate Majority Leader, is African-American.

Tarkanian is now trying to clarify those remarks.

The Horsford campaign has released a statement saying Horsford is disappointed in Tarkanian, adding, quote, “he has proven that he is bankrupt in more than one way.”
