(Las Vegas, NV)  —  A Las Vegas man is facing charges in a pair of cold-case murders.

Metro Police say 65-year-old Nathan Burkett has been extradited from Mississippi.  Homicide Lieutenant Ray Steiber says new DNA evidence has linked Burkett to the 1978 slaying of Barbara Ann Cox, and the 1994 murder of 27-year-old Tina Gayle Mitchell.

Burkett faces two counts of murder and one count of sexual assault.  Police believe Burkett may have committed other strangulation killings.

Burkett lived in LasVegas between 1978 and 2007.
