Father, Daughter Rescued From Mount Olympus

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A father and his daughter have been rescued from Mount Olympus near Salt Lake City.

Authorities say the pair strayed off a hiking trail on the way down from the 9,000-foot summit and ended up along steep cliffs where they couldn’t move safely.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal tells The Associated Press rescue crews guided the 32-year-old father and his 10-year-old daughter down the mountain at about 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Hoyal says the hikers left a marked trail apparently confused by meandering paths near the summit. The upper 1,000 feet of the mountain is a scramble over boulders.
