Court Date Set In Vegas Lounge Murder

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A court date is set for a Henderson man accused of chasing and fatally shooting a 43-year-old Las Vegas man after fistfight outside a West Las Vegas neighborhood bar.

Court records show that 46-year-old Brenton Earl Smith is due for arraignment Wednesday before a Las Vegas judge in the early July 22 slaying of Oliver Hooker outside the Seven Seas Lounge near Lake Mead Boulevard and H Street.

Witnesses including a bar security guard told police that Hooker punched Smith in the face before Smith pulled a gun Hooker and allegedly fired 12 shots as Hooker tried to flee.

Hooker collapsed with a leg wound in a storefront church parking lot, and died later at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

Police arrested Smith and seized a weapon from him.
