(Carson City, NV)  — Nevadans are being cautioned about immigration scammers.  Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto says
scammers can confuse people by describing themselves as “notarios.”

In some Latin American countries, the term refers to a lawyer.  But in the States, a “notary” is someone who notarizes public documents.  Under Nevada law, a “notary” can not provide legal advice.

Victims are being urged to report any scams to the attorney general’s office or the Federal Trade Commission.
