(Las Vegas, NV) — The man known as the “Godfather of Southern Nevada sports broadcasting” has died.

Bob Blum died of complications from hip surgery on Sunday. He was 91.

The Indiana-born Blum worked as a broadcaster in California before moving to Las Vegas in 1973. He became the voice of the UNLV Lady Rebels and did play-by-play for hundreds of local sports events.

Blum was also an announcer for Las Vegas’ minor league baseball team and worked in the front office. He was inducted into the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.

Funeral services are pending.
