GLENDORA, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California man has been arrested for breaking into a mourner’s SUV and stealing the woman’s purse during the funeral for her Marine Corps veteran father.

Glendora police says 31-year-old Jose Angel Abrajan was arrested on Thursday. He has been booked for investigation of grand theft and remains jailed with bail set at $1 million.

Police Capt. Tim Staab tells City News Service that surveillance video shows Abrajan breaking into the sport utility vehicle at Oakdale Cemetery during the funeral of 64-year-old former Marine Aurelio Rodriguez. The cemetery is about 25 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.

The Vietnam veteran’s daughter discovered the purse was missing when she returned to her SUV.
