Softball Coach Indicted On Federal Child Pornography Charges
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 43-year-old former Las Vegas high school softball coach has been indicted on federal child pornography charges amid accusations he had a sexual relationship with a student he coached.
Albert S. Hernandez Jr. was set to appear before a U.S. magistrate judge Thursday on eight counts of sexual exploitation of a child and three counts of transporting child pornography.
Prosecutors say he exchanged explicit text messages with an underage girl between December and February.
Clark County District police arrested Hernandez in May. He was a varsity coach at Silverado High School in Las Vegas, and was also known for his work as a youth softball coach.
If he’s convicted, Hernandez faces at least 15 years in prison on each sexual exploitation count and five years on each child pornography count.
