(Las Vegas, NV)  — Las Vegas area police are using online tools to help solve crimes.

North Las Vegas Sergeant Tim Bedwell says Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are the fastest way to get information out to the public.  He says people have short term memories so the quicker they know of a crime, the quicker they can share leads.

North Las Vegas, Metro and Henderson Police all have active Facebook and Twitter accounts offering real time updates on crimes taking place.

Metro’s YouTube channel is currently featuring surveillance video of a violent armed robbery which police are hoping will generate some leads.
