(North Las Vegas, NV)  –  Cash-strapped North Las Vegas has received some help for its police department.

Senator Harry Reid says the city has been awarded a nearly two-million dollar federal grant.  The money can be used to hire as many as 14 officers.

The grant comes as North Vegas takes steps to eliminate a budget deficit of more than 30-million dollars.  The city recently suspended pay and benefit increases for union workers.
