(Las Vegas, NV) — Las Vegas-area school administrators have declared an impasse in contract negotiations with the union representing teachers.
However, The Clark County Education Association has stated through a press release that the impasses was declared prematurely.
District spokeswoman Amanda Fulkerson says efforts to schedule negotiations fell through, and administrators want a contract in place before students return in late August for the 2012-2013 school year.
CCSD and CCEA were scheduled to meet July 11th. CCEA accused CCSD of walking away from the negotiation table. Less than two months ago an arbitrator ruled that teachers should get scheduled raises rather than freezing salaries.
