(Des Plaines, IL)  —  The number of car thefts in Las Vegas fell last year.

The National Insurance Crime Bureau says Sin City ranked 19th for vehicle thefts per capita.  There were nearly 8000 cars reported stolen in Las Vegas during 2011, or just over 400 thefts per 100,000 residents.

The NICB says three California cities-Fresno, Modesto and Bakersfield had the highest car theft rates.
