RICHFIELD, Utah (AP) — A 32-year-old Las Vegas driver has been arrested after authorities in central Utah found him with about 100 pounds of marijuana in vacuum-sealed packages.
Sevier (suh-VEER) County deputies say they stopped a speeding vehicle on Interstate 70 on Saturday. The driver told authorities the car was a rental and he wasn’t the person who rented it.
But deputies say the man’s story fell apart when they asked him who the actual renter was.
A police dog that searched the vehicle helped locate six suitcases carrying packs of marijuana in the trunk.
Sevier County officials estimate the marijuana is worth about $760,000 on the street.
The driver was booked on suspicion of drug possession. His bail was set at $50,000.
