(Las Vegas, NV) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has a big job to do.
Dealing with the 28th most populous city in the United States isn’t easy, but the officers continue to make a difference. The downtown area has seen a decrease in crime in recent years and the department believes presence is the main reason according to Captain Richard Collins.
“Robberies are down 17 percent, gun crimes are down 35 percent , assaults are down 23 percent and fight calls are down 20 percent. A lot of that us due to presence. Presence is a deterrent in most cases.”
Metro said a key to reducing crime across the city is building relationships through social interaction and communicating with business owners.
