(North Las Vegas, NV) — North Las Vegas and the unions who represent city workers can’t see to eye-to-eye.
Teamsters Local 14, which represents most city employees, has narrowly rejected a plan to forgo pay raises. The police and fire unions have also refused to accept concessions. City manager Tim Hacker wants to suspend collective bargaining agreements, to prevent layoffs of public safety workers and balance the budget.
Union officials say they will appeal. The city council is scheduled to vote on Hacker’s resolution at a special meeting this afternoon.
