(Carson City, NV)  —  First time claims for jobless benefits in Nevada fell in April, continuing a 29-month trend.

The state Department of Employment says just over 18,000 new claims were filed last month, down more than 1200 compared with April 2011.

State economist Bill Anderson says while Nevada’s unemployment rate may be stabilizing, job growth will likely be slower than before the recession.
