LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 69-year-old Las Vegas man was recovering at a hospital after being stung by bees more than 300 times while on a hike.

Las Vegas fire officials say the man was near the top of Lone Mountain when the attack occurred late Friday afternoon in Clark County.

They say he was unable to call for help, and firefighters weren’t notified until more than two hours later.

Other hikers were with the man when paramedics arrived, and a helicopter was needed to transport him to a Las Vegas hospital.

Authorities didn’t release his name or any details on his condition.

Officials warn that bee encounters are not uncommon for hikers in Nevada’s high desert.
