Double-Slaying Suspect Faces Judge For Domestic Violence Charges
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The 22-year-old suspect in the brutal sex attacks and hammer slayings of a Las Vegas mother and her daughter made an initial court appearance in separate domestic violence cases alleging he attacked his pregnant teenage former girlfriend.
Bryan Devonte Clay Jr. stood surrounded by court marshals and a public defender and provided one-word answers to questions from a Las Vegas judge Tuesday. A May 15 preliminary hearing was set on the two robbery, domestic battery and child abuse cases.
Clay was arrested Friday on a warrant in the child abuse case, then charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon, sexual assault and other charges in the April 15 slayings of Ignacia Yadira Martinez and 10-year-old Karla Martinez.
Clay also is accused of critically injuring husband and father Arturo Martinez.
