PHOENIX, Ariz. (CBS Las Vegas) — One puppy found himself in a thorny situation last week.
Cactus Jack, a 9-week-old border/terrier mix, was found caught in a cactus by a good Samaritan with hundreds of needles sticking out of him.
When emergency animal technicians from the Arizona Humane Society arrived on the scene, they found the person picked off enough needles to nearly fill a five-gallon bucket. Click here to see the full-sized photo of Cactus Jack.
Cactus Jack was then transported to Second Chance Animal Hospital where the remaining needles were removed, Bretta Nelson, public relations manager for the Arizona Human Society, told CBS Las Vegas.
“He’s been a really remarkable dog,” Nelson said.
Fortunately, none of the needles got into his eyes or his mouth.
Cactus Jack was adopted through a lottery system last Thursday. Nelson told CBS Las Vegas there were 73 entries for the little pup and a young girl named Sarah was named the big winner.
Eight other dogs were also adopted that day, thanks to the coverage Cactus Jack received.
