Water Authority Plan Hits Courts

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Southern Nevada Water Authority’s plan to pump billions of gallons of water from rural areas along the Nevada-Utah line is back in court. Environmentalists, local governments, Indian tribes, ranchers and others have filed challenges to last month’s ruling by Nevada’s state engineer that granted the water authority permission to pump water from four valleys to Las Vegas through a 300-mile pipeline that has yet to be built.
