Vegas Businessman Drops Push To Raise Taxes
(Las Vegas, NV) — A Las Vegas businessman has dropped his push for higher mining and gaming taxes. Monte Miller had proposed two ballot initiatives to raise taxes on Nevada’s largest industries. In a statement, Miller noted the state AFL-CIO has “clearly failed to build broad-based support” for a competing initiative. His proposals would have increased taxes on the state’s largest casinos, and raised the current five-percent cap on mining taxes.
