LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort State Historic Park near downtown Las Vegas is hosting several free events this month.
Old Spanish Trail history will be the topic of a storytelling presentation by trail expert Ashley Hall from 10 a. m. to noon Saturday.
The trail was an overland travel route in the early 1800s from Santa Fe through Utah Territory to the California coast at Los Angeles.
Historical re-enactors on April 21 will portray the life of soldiers from Ancient Rome through World War II.
A Helen J. Stewart birthday tea party is also scheduled April 21, with a historical interpreter and afternoon snacks and activities.
Stewart moved to Las Vegas in 1882. She operated Kiel Ranch after her husband, Archibald Stewart, was gunned down in 1884.
