Sacramento, Calif. (AP) — California and Nevada officials are teaming up in their effort to lure the Winter Games back to the Reno-Lake Tahoe area in 2022.
In a joint statement released to The AP, the lieutenant governors of both states said today they are forming a joint exploratory committee for the 2022 Olympics.
California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom says the bid will be much stronger if both states work together.
Reno-Lake Tahoe also bid for the 2014 games but received no backing by the United States Olympic Committee.
