(Las Vegas, NV)  –  Some drivers are ignoring Nevada’s new law that bans chatting and texting behind the wheel.

The “Sun” reports since the law went into effect January 1st, Las Vegas police have ticketed about 23-hundred drivers for cell phone use.

In Henderson, nearly 800 drivers have been cited from January to March.  Police say some drivers are trying to avoid a ticket by holding their hand-held phones under the dashboard, a practice they say is extremely dangerous.

I switched to a hands free bluetooth setup for cheap. I have to admit it’s more convenient to just use my cell but this is a good law and will end up saving lives. Think about it this way – if you get in an accident while using your cell makes you are probably automatically at fault and therefore leaves you wide open for lawsuits. Not worth it.
