(Las Vegas, NV) – The Nevada Mining Association and The Nevada Division of Minerals will hold a three-day workshop beginning tomorrow designed to further educate teachers about the importance of minerals in Nevada.

It may come as a surprise to some that mining happens right here in Clark County, not just in the northern part of the state and exclusively Elko County. NMA Spokeswoman Katie Neddenriep  told KXNT what the workshop will do for those who participate. “It’s about minerals and just how mineral-rich the state of Nevada is and just how critical those minerals are to our economy and livelihood.”

And the goal of the workshop is to help the teachers educate their students when they get back to school. “The workshop is designed to provide teachers the resources that they can take back into their classrooms to teach their students about minerals in Nevada.”

This is the 23rd year the workshop has taken place in Southern Nevada.
