NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — A 36-year-old North Las Vegas police officer is in stable condition after he was shot while responding to a domestic violence report.
Police responding to a home on Silver Edge Street about 10 p.m. Monday found family members outside, but were told an armed man was still in the house.
Authorities say four officers tried to enter the house when the suspect fired multiple shots at officers and hit one of them.
The injured officer was taken to University Medical Center in serious condition.
The 23-year-old suspect left the house and surrendered to police. Christopher Burcham was booked into the North Las Vegas jail on two counts of attempted murder and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by an ex-felon.
Two officers involved are on paid administrative leave.
