(Las Vegas, NV) — A number of Las Vegas casinos and bars are singing out against a trademark lawsuit over karaoke performances. The “Sun” says North Carolina-based Slep-Tone Entertainment claims bars and karaoke jockeys have infringed on the company’s trademarked song and lyric displays. Slep-Tone filed nearly 100 lawsuits in Vegas last month, demanding $500-million in damages. Copyright attorneys have asked a federal judge to dismiss the suit, claiming Slep-Tone is abusing the system.
