(Las Vegas) – Nevada regulators have decided to halt some energy efficiency programs because they are not cost effective.

The state Public Utilities Commission on Thursday directed NV Energy Inc. to stop operating its weatherization program for low-income residents and to halt its subsidies of energy-efficient light bulbs, the Las Vegas Sun reported.

Suspending those two programs will save ratepayers $3.8 million.
