(Las Vegas, NV) – It’s a first for the monthly First Friday arts  event in downtown Las Vegas: a 30-foot wooden statue called Lucky Lady Lucy will be set on fire. It’s some kind of tribute the annual “Burning Man” festival that takes places up in the Black Rock Desert of Northern Nevada every Labor Day weekend.

First Friday is celebrated in the Arts District of Downtown Las Vegas, with the hub on Casino Center Blvd between Colorado St and California St. First Friday also includes the Fremont East district with live mural paintings and music on 6th St and Fremon.

There’s a video that tries to explain what the mini-event is all about on the First Friday website.

The local event will be monitored by the fire department with tens of thousands of spectators expected.
