LAS VEGAS (AP) — Construction workers have poured the foundation for a 500-foot observation wheel slated to open on the Las Vegas Strip in 2013.

The Las Vegas Sun (http://bit.ly/w4yXye) reports that 130 concrete trucks stood nearby as construction workers set the foundation Thursday morning. The $200 million SkyVue observation wheel will stand across from the Mandalay Bay hotel-casino.

Developer Howard Bulloch said the attraction will include seven food-court options, five sit-down restaurants and a dozen stores ranging from clothing outfitters to electronics.

The towering wheel will feature 32 gondolas that each seat 24 people and a 50,000-square-foot LED sign will project images from its center.

Another observation wheel is planned farther north on the Strip, as part of a project linking several Caesars Entertainment Corp. casinos.
