(Henderson, NV) – With almost thirty years of service to the Henderson Police Department, Chief Jutta Chambers has been asked to step down. Amid much confusion, it appears that Chambers is still the chief – for now.

The resignation request comes from outgoing Henderson City Manager Mark Calhoun as a result of the controversy in which a Henderson officer was one of several seen beating a man following a 2010 traffic stop. It turned out the man was in diabetic shock and has since received a six-figure settlement from Henderson.

One reason for the confusion: Chief Chambers is on vacation and there is a Deputy filling in for her. Another may be lingering questions about whether Calhoun’s departure from the City Manager’s position may also be related to the recent controversy.
