NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LAS VEGAS NV

737 AM PST SAT JAN 21 2012 – STRONG SOUTHWEST TO WEST WINDS WILL OCCUR TODAY ACROSS THE

SOUTHERN GREAT BASIN AND MOJAVE DESERT AS A STRONG PACIFIC STORM MOVES ACROSS CENTRAL CALIFORNIA AND INTO NEVADA. WINDS WILL DIMINISH QUICKLY THIS EVENING AS THE STORM MOVES TOWARD THE FOUR CORNERS REGION.

WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM PST THIS EVENING

SOUTHWEST WINDS 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS AROUND 45 MPH.

WINDS WILL INCREASE THROUGH THIS MORNING WITH THE STRONGEST WINDS IN THE LATE MORNING THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. WINDS WILL DIMINISH QUICKLY IN THE EARLY EVENING.

DIFFICULT DRIVING CONDITIONS DUE TO CROSSWINDS. STRONG WIND GUSTS COULD BRIEFLY LOWER VISIBILITY TO UNDER A MILE AT TIMES IN BLOWING DUST AND BLOWING SAND.

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT CROSSWINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BE STRONG ENOUGH TO MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT…ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. IN ADDITION…STRONG WINDS OVER DESERT AREAS COULD RESULT IN BRIEFLY LOWERED VISIBILITIES TO WELL UNDER A MILE AT TIMES IN BLOWING DUST OR BLOWING SAND. USE EXTRA CAUTION.

BOATERS IN THE WIND ADVISORY AREA SHOULD USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN

VENTURING ONTO AREA LAKES. THESE WINDS WILL MAKE OPEN WATERS OF

LAKES ROUGH AND HAZARDOUS.
