Coroner Makes Identification

The Clark County coroner has identified a man who police say died after apparently swallowing a bag of cocaine as 43-year-old Anthony Barrett of Las Vegas. The coroner’s office says it could take several weeks to complete toxicology reports and determine a cause and manner of death. Las Vegas police say Barrett was stopped in a vehicle about 8 p.m. Wednesday during a cocaine sale investigation several blocks east of the Las Vegas Strip. Detectives reported that Barrett consumed a bag of a substance believed to be cocaine as they approached the car. Paramedics were called, and Barrett was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. He later died.
