LAS VEGAS (AP) — A hospital expansion is creating nearly 150 construction jobs in recession-weary Las Vegas.
KLAS-TV reported Friday that Mountain View Hospital is undergoing a $60 million expansion that will support dozens of construction jobs through the next year.
The hospital is expanding its emergency room and creating a larger intensive care unit. It’s adding dozens more patient beds.
Experts say health care was the only sector of the local economy to grow and add jobs during the recession. The project will be done by the end of the year.
Nevada has the highest unemployment rate in the nation at 13 percent.
