North Las Vegas – At 1:30 p.m., North Las Vegas Swat officers took two men into custody in connection with a robbery that occurred at a local pawnshop in North Las Vegas.

At about 11:55 a.m., 9-1-1 dispatchers received reports of a robbery in progress at the Super Pawn located at 1611 North Las Vegas Boulevard. Witnesses reported that two men armed with handguns entered the store and ordered everyone to the ground. They held the clerks at gunpoint, as they demanded money from inside the cash registers. After taking an undisclosed amount of cash and other items from the store, both men fled in a vehicle.

Officers arrived as the suspects were leaving the area. A short vehicle pursuit ensued before the men abandoned their car and ran into a house in the 2100 block of Lawry Avenue. Officers surrounded the house and called the Swat team out. After about an hour and a half, both men surrendered to police without further incident.

26-year-old Dwayne Jones and 21-year-old Israel Elder, both of Las Vegas, were arrested on one count each of conspiracy to commit robbery with a deadly weapon, robbery with a deadly weapon, and burglary with a deadly weapon. All three charges are felonies. Both Jones and Elder are being held at the North Las Vegas Detention Center on $80,000 bail each.
