LAS VEGAS (AP) — Clark County District Attorney David Roger says he’s launching a grand jury investigation into allegations a judge and former prosecutor lied in sworn affidavits about the extent of their relationship.
Roger says he decided to open the investigation after newly discovered emails from former prosecutor Lisa Willardson’s office computer showed that her budding romantic relationship with Family Court Judge Steven Jones may have begun while she was still handling child welfare cases before him.
Both denied in their affidavits that they were seeing each other while Willardson appeared before the judge.
Because of a potential conflict of interest, supervisors removed Willardson from handling cases before Jones on Oct. 31. She was fired last week.
Roger says his office will issue subpoenas for the phone records of both Jones and Willardson.
