LAS VEGAS – One day after the city of Henderson cracked down on illegal massage parlors, the city of Las Vegas did the same thing. On Wednesday, the city council unanimously approved two ordinances that require massage parlors to undergo regular health inspections, post their licenses publicly, and keep the rooms where massages are taking place unlocked. The measures were sponsored by Mayor Pro Tem Stavros Anthony, who says they are aimed at shutting down massage parlors that are used as illegal fronts for prostitution, and some which involve human trafficking of women brought in from other countries. On Tuesday night, the Henderson city council passed a strict ordinance of its own that would revoke the license of any massage parlor where an employee engages in prostitution.
