LAS VEGAS (AP) — County officials granted Occupy Las Vegas protesters a 90-extension to keep open a camp near the University of Nevada, Las Vegas that was slated to close next week.
County spokesman Dan Kulin said the last minute extension was granted Friday.
Occupy Las Vegas received a 30-day permit in October to open the camp within walking distance of the Las Vegas Strip.
The lease requires the group to provide for portable bathrooms.
Occupy Las Vegas is one of dozens of copycat movements created last month after protesters began gathering near Wall Street in downtown New York City to protest corporate greed, economic inequality and government corruption.
Other cities are closing down protest camps because of violence and health concerns.
