LAS VEGAS (AP) — Timothy Bradley, trying to set himself up for big-name fights, stopped veteran Joel Casamayor in the eighth round Saturday night to remain unbeaten in 28 bouts.
Bradley put Casamayor down in the fifth and sixth rounds and was dominating the fight when Casamayor went down again in the eighth. He got to his feet, but his corner waved the fight to a close.
Bradley, mentioned as a possible future opponent for Manny Pacquiao, was in charge from the opening bell against the 40-year-old Casamayor. Not known as a big puncher, Bradley scored his 12th stoppage in running his record to 28-0. Casamayor fell to 38-6-1.
Bradley kept a version of the junior welterweight title with the win on the Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez undercard.
