Drug Lab Busted Near Strip

LAS VEGAS (CBS) – Metro Police raided a huge synthetic drug lab near the Las Vegas Strip. Officers and SWAT team members made the discovery late Monday afternoon along Highland Drive, west of the Las Vegas Strip. Police say they found thousands of pounds of synthetic cocaine and synthetic marijuana along with the chemicals used to make it. The bust was prompted by a tip from Utah authorities, who say the drugs were coming from Vegas into their convenience stores and smoke shops. Experts say the fake marijuana is known as “Spice” and the fake cocaine or bath salts can both be very dangerous. Spice became illegal in Nevada last May, and the chemical in bath salts has been banned federally.
