LAS VEGAS (AP) — Casino-resort operator Las Vegas Sands Corp. has denied allegations in a lawsuit that three elite executive security officers were not promoted because they are black.
The Las Vegas Sun reports the company led by billionaire Sheldon Adelson responded Friday to claims made October in a lawsuit originally filed in June by nine executive security officers for Adelson and his family.
Three of the nine claimed in a proposed amended lawsuit filed in October that they weren’t considered for higher-paying positions protecting Adelson because they are black. The only issue in the original suit was overtime pay.
Calling itself an “exemplary employer and an upstanding corporate citizen,” the company contends the three agents never complained to management about discrimination or filed complaints with the government.
